Event overview
The Panther Spirit Race takes place on August 15, 2026, in Dewitt, Michigan (801 N Bridge St). It is hosted by the DeWitt Cheer Program and serves as the program's primary fundraiser. The event includes the following races:
- 5K Run/Walk
- Kids' Mile
- Kids' 100 m dash
The start and finish are at St. Jude's Catholic Church.
Logistics and fees
Online registration opens early March and remains available until the night before the race; there is no same-day registration. Entry fees for the 5K vary by date: $20 until August 2, $25 from August 3 to August 9, and $30 from August 10 to August 14. Kids events are priced at $5. A family/group rate for the 5K (2-4 people) is offered at $70 through August 2. Race entry includes a finisher medal for participants. Early packet pick-up is scheduled for Friday, August 14 (evening), and race-day packet pick-up is available at St. Jude's.
Competition and awards
The 5K will be chip timed by the Michigan Running Foundation, with live results posted during the race and afterward. Age groups are 12 and under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+. Playmakers gift certificates are awarded to top finishers in each age group and to overall male and female winners.
