Panther Claw 1776 is a trail event on July 4, 2026 at Panther Creek State Park in Morristown, TN. The event offers solo and relay options over a total distance of 17.76 miles.
- 17.76 miles solo
- 17.76 miles relay (three-person team, one loop per runner)
The course is organized as three named loops - Red, White, and Blue - each beginning and ending at a central hub and aid station. Completing all three loops constitutes the full 17.76-mile course; participants may choose the order in which they run the loops.
Trails are reported to be about 90% singletrack and include a mix of smooth mountain-bike-style trail, rocky sections, forested stretches, scenic overlooks of Cherokee Lake, flat sections, rolling hills, and a few steep climbs. One aid station serves the start and end of each loop; participants are asked to bring a personal cup and their regular hydration gear. Aid station supplies include water, electrolyte drink or mix, soft drinks, pickle juice, pancakes, bacon, and other snacks.
Additional event information notes no crews and no drop bags, a 5.5-hour cutoff with a requirement to begin loop 3 by 12:30pm, and that all entrants receive a t-shirt and finisher medal though shirts or medals are not guaranteed for registrations after June 15. There are no refunds, transfers, or deferments. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
