Panther Claw 1776
Panther Claw 1776 is a trail event on July 4, 2026, at Panther Creek State Park in Morristown, TN. The event is offered as a solo distance or a relay team event.
Distances:
- 17.76 miles solo
- 17.76 miles relay (three-person team, each member runs one loop)
The course is made of three named loops - Red, White, and Blue - that each begin and end at a central hub/aid station. Runners must complete all three loops to finish the full 17.76 miles; the organizer allows participants to choose the order in which they run the loops.
Trails are about 90% singletrack and include smooth mountain bike sections, rocky stretches, thick forest, overlook views of Cherokee Lake, flat sections, rolling hills, and several steep climbs. There is one aid station that serves the start and end of each loop. Aid supplies include water, electrolyte drinks or mix, cola, lemon-lime soda, pickle juice, pancakes, bacon, and other snacks. Participants are asked to bring a cup and their regular hydration gear.
Additional details: the race enforces a 4.5-hour cutoff. No crews or drop bags are allowed. All finishers receive a t-shirt and a finisher medal; entries after June 15 are not guaranteed a shirt or medal. There are no refunds, transfers, or deferments, and the organizer cannot mail awards, shirts, or forgotten gear. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
