Panther Claw 1776
Panther Claw 1776 is a trail event at Panther Creek State Park near Morristown, TN. The course is built from three named loops - Red, White, and Blue - each starting and ending at a central hub and aid station. Completing all three loops constitutes the full 17.76 mile course; a relay option divides the course into three separate loops, with each team member running one loop.
The trails are about 90 percent singletrack and include smooth mountain bike paths, rocky sections, forested stretches, overlook views of Cherokee Lake, flat sections, rolling hills, and several steep climbs. There is one aid station located at the beginning and end of each loop. Aid station supplies include water, electrolyte drink or mix, cola, lemon-lime soda, pickle juice, pancakes, bacon, and various snacks. Participants must bring a personal cup in addition to their regular hydration gear.
Crew support and drop bags are not allowed. The event enforces a 4.5 hour overall cutoff and requires runners to meet an intermediate cutoff before the final loop. All entrants receive a t-shirt and a finisher medal, though entries after June 15 are not guaranteed a shirt or medal. There are no refunds, transfers, or deferments, and organizers do not have capacity to mail awards, shirts, or forgotten gear. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
