Parkway Panda Running Event
The Panda 5K and 1K Fun Run is hosted by Parkway Elementary School. The event serves as a benefit for the Parkway Elementary School community. Participants follow a route that winds through Baker Park and the surrounding residential neighborhoods in Frederick, Maryland. The start area is located near the Baker Park Bandshell at 21 N. Bentz St.
The event features two primary distances:
- 1K: A fun run or walk around Baker Park open to all ages.
- 5K: A timed race with separate registration categories for youth and adults.
Registered participants receive a race shirt. Those who complete their registration by early May are guaranteed a shirt, while later registrants may receive them on a first-come, first-served basis if supplies allow. Packet pick-up is organized on the Friday before the event at the front steps of Parkway Elementary School and on the morning of the races. In-person registration is also available on-site before the events begin.
Awards are presented to top finishers across a wide range of age groups. These categories include children aged 7 and under, as well as multiple brackets for youth, young adults, and seniors up to 70 years and older. The event infrastructure is supported by local sponsorships and donations, including food and beverage contributions for the participants.
