Palmer Lake July 4th Fun Run
The 44th annual July 4th Fun Run, presented by Black Hills Energy, is a fundraiser for Palmer Lake Elementary School and coincides with the nation’s 250th and the state’s 150th anniversaries. The event features a community road and trail route open to a range of paces and modes of travel.
The course is 4 miles. It starts at the south end of Palmer Lake, circles the lake once, then continues south along the Santa Fe Trail and finishes just north of 3rd Street in downtown Monument. The trail is described as having a slight downhill section and offers views of the Front Range and race-day signage along the route.
Registration opens April 1 and closes May 1. Fee categories listed by the organizer are: adult ($30.00), middle school and high school student ($20.00), and elementary student and younger ($20.00).
Packet pickup is available at two retail locations on July 2 and July 3, with specific local addresses provided by the organizer; additional packet pickup will occur on race day at the pedestrian bridge in the parking area on the west side of the lake. Parking is in designated lots on the west side of the lake north of the pickleball courts, accessible from HWY 105; participants are asked to use the bridge to reach the course. A shuttle returns participants to the Palmer Lake parking area; boarding is at Adams and 2nd Street and the last shuttle leaves Monument at 9am. Collapsible strollers are allowed on the buses.
