Greenland Trail Races
The Greenland Trail Races take place on May 2, 2026 at Greenland Open Space in Larkspur, Colorado. The event offers multiple distances and includes the 2026 RRCA National 50K Championship. Race facilities and logistics are organized by the event producer.
Distances
- 4 Mile (approximately 4.25 miles)
- 8 Mile
- 25K
- 50K (four laps of the main loop)
The course lies within over 3,000 acres of Greenland Open Space and uses sections of the Colorado Front Range Trail and the Old Territorial Road. Runners pass through native grasslands, ponds, rolling Gamble oak hills and ponderosa pine forests with views of Pikes Peak and surrounding buttes. The surface is dirt trails with wide, smooth double-track sections; the saddle high point reaches about 7,400 feet. The 50K completes the main loop four times and the 25K two times; the four mile and eight mile routes follow parts of the same loop with specific turn points.
Aid stations are located roughly at mile 3.5 and 7.5 on each loop and provide water and electrolyte drink; gels are available for 25K and 50K runners from the second lap, and salty foods are offered. A portable restroom is positioned near the southern aid station. Pacers are permitted on the final 50K lap only. Crewing is allowed at designated aid station locations and drop bags may be left at the turn-around tarp area near the north aid station.
Registration notes include an 18 year age minimum for the 50K and youth discounts for the shorter races. Registered participants receive a gender specific technical shirt, a finisher medal, and 50K finishers receive a belt buckle. Timing is by disposable bib tag and event photos are available after the race. Parking at the trailhead is limited with an overflow area across the railroad tracks; there is no overnight parking or camping in the Greenland Open Space lot. Nearby towns with lodging options include Castle Rock and Colorado Springs. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
