Painted Horse Urban Ultra
The Painted Horse Urban Ultra in Ocala, FL is a low-key, self-supported urban adventure run organized by the Where's the Finish? Podcast. The course is a loop rather than point-to-point and is navigation heavy. The event is not a race and there is no time limit.
Distances:
- 55k (approx.) loop route, sees about 40 painted horses.
- 25k (approx.) shorter option, sees at least 25 painted horses.
The route passes painted horse artworks that were originally commissioned in 2000 as part of a Horse Fever project, with additional horses added for the project’s 20th anniversary. The horses are located across Marion County in public and private locations, with the largest concentration in Downtown Ocala; the event route does not visit every horse.
The event is largely self-supported. There may be occasional water drops and special treats, but participants should not plan on full support. A race book is available and race day registration is offered. Registration closes Fri, Feb 20 @ 11:59 PM ET.
A multi-event Painter's Revenge Challenge pairs Painted Horse with Skunk Ape's Revenge and Swan's Song Urban Run. The challenge has full and partial levels; completing the full challenge earns a commemorative belt buckle. An extra fee applies to the challenge and sign-up is handled through the Swan's Song event page. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
