Painted Horse Urban Ultra - February 27, 2027

The Painted Horse Urban Ultra is an urban, self-supported loop event in Ocala, FL organized by Where's the Finish. The course focuses on navigation, sightseeing, and locating painted horse sculptures placed around Marion County. The route has been redesigned from previous editions and is run as a loop rather than point-to-point.

The event is not a race. It is navigation heavy and described as an adventure, sightseeing trip, and scavenger hunt. There is no official time limit and participants should plan to be largely self-sufficient; there may be occasional water drops or special treats but the event should not be considered fully supported. A race book is available for route and logistics details. Race day registration is available and general registration has a stated closing date.

Participants on the longer route will encounter roughly 40 painted horses along the course. The painted horses were commissioned as public art in 2000 with additional pieces added for a 20th anniversary project; many are located in downtown Ocala while others are spread throughout the county. A shorter route option follows a different course and passes a smaller number of horses.
