Event format and features
The event is a self-supported urban adventure run. It is described as not a race and is navigation heavy, with turn-by-turn directions provided. Participants should expect limited support; there may be some water drops and special treats, but the event is not fully supported. Race day registration is available.
The painted horses are public artworks first commissioned in 2000 for a project called Horse Fever, with additional horses added for the 20th anniversary. The sculptures are placed across Marion County, with the largest concentration in Downtown Ocala. The event route does not visit all horses; a map shows many horses that lie outside the course.
