Event Details

The Pain in Moraine is a 24-hour running challenge. It will take place at Moraine State Park's South Shore in Portersville, Pennsylvania. Participants run on a 10K loop course. Competitors can arrive at any time during the event to log their loops. They may also leave and return later to run more loops. A tracking system called Miles of Smiles will be used.

The Course

The loop is an almost perfect 10k (6.2 miles). It follows the Pleasant Valley, Hilltop, and Sunken Garden trails. Each loop has approximately 723 feet of vertical gain. There is plenty of room near the start/finish for participants to set up a personal tent or canopy as a base camp.

Aid and Facilities

A fully stocked aid station will be in the main tent. It will offer hot food such as toasted cheese, quesadillas, ramen, hot dogs, and pizza. A mini aid station at the halfway point will have water and Gatorade available for the entire event. A couple of propane heaters will be provided overnight.

Rules and Regulations

Campfires and alcohol are not permitted, as the event is within a state park. Runners under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Crews can offer assistance only at the start/finish and the halfway water station.

Registration and Awards

Event day registration is available if capacity is not met. Registrations prior to August 23, 2026, will receive a pair of wool socks and a Techno Lite Vest. Awards are given to the male and female who complete the most loops within 24 hours. Additional awards are given for achieving five or more loops. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
