Event Overview

Paige's Butterfly Run is a community event held in downtown Syracuse that supports local childhood cancer research and patient programs. Celebrating its 30th year in 2026, the event is organized in conjunction with the Taste of Syracuse festival, providing participants with access to local food and music in the Clinton Square area.

The event features several participation options for different ages and interest levels:

  • 5K: A USATF certified timed race open to participants ages 4 to 99.
  • 3K Fun Fitness Run/Walk: A non-timed alternative for runners and walkers.
  • 5K Centipede Team: A division for five-person teams who run the course together.
  • Caterpillar Crawl: A 40-foot fun run designed specifically for children aged 5 and under.
  • Virtual: A flexible option allowing participants to record their times and share photos on a leaderboard between June 6 and June 13.

The proceeds from the event benefit the Dr. William J. Waters Center for Children's Cancer and Blood Disorders at Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital. Since its start in 1997, the initiative has raised over $5,000,000 for pediatric cancer support. The live events take place primarily in downtown Syracuse, with the start located near 100 S Clinton St. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
