Bidwells Oxford 10K
The Bidwells Oxford 10k is an annual closed-road running event based at University Parks, Oxford OX1 3RF. Established in 1982, it is part of the Town and Gown series and raises funds for Muscular Dystrophy UK, with all profits directed to the charity.
The main course runs through Oxford city centre and University Parks, passing historic colleges, riverside sections and notable city landmarks. The route is described as flat and fast and typically attracts around 6,000 entrants. A junior 3k route runs through University Parks and alongside the River Cherwell for 9–15 year-olds.
Event facilities are centred on an Event Village in University Parks near the cricket pavilion; this area houses information and baggage tents, on-the-day registration, food vendors, toilets, warm-ups and prize presentations. Race packs include a running bib with an affixed timing chip; results are recorded with chip timing and published after the event. Baggage storage is available in a secure marquee and reclaim requires presentation of the race number.
Entries and event administration include deadlines for transferring or deferring places and a policy on deferrals that may include a fee except for pregnancy-related deferrals. The race welcomes runners using buggies and offers assisted running equipment such as a Hippocampe marathon running chair. Road closures and parking restrictions apply in the local area on race day. A zero-tolerance policy applies to abusive or discriminatory behaviour. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
