Bidwells Oxford 10K
The Bidwells Oxford 10K is an annual closed-road running event based at University Parks, Oxford OX1 3RF. It began in 1982 and was set up in memory of a local boy with muscular dystrophy; all profits support Muscular Dystrophy UK. The event typically attracts around 6,000 runners.
The course runs through Oxford city centre and University Parks, passing historic college buildings, riverside sections and other city landmarks. The 10 km route is described as flat and fast, with marshals and clear signage throughout. A separate 3 km route runs through University Parks for younger runners.
Additional event features include:
- Race packs posted to early entrants; later entries collect on the day from the registration marquee
- Electronic chip timing with the timing chip fixed to the running bib
- An Event Village in University Parks with information, baggage storage, registration, food stalls and toilets
- A baggage marquee; bags must display the race number label when handed in
- A professional warm-up provided by David Lloyds Club and prize presentations on the Event Village stage
- Prizes awarded on chip-time for overall and age group categories; overall prizes take precedence over age group prizes
Accessibility arrangements are available for wheelchair users and assisted runners. A Hippocampe Marathon running chair is offered for participants who require assistance. The organisers maintain a zero-tolerance policy on abusive behaviour at the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
