OWLS Fort Macon 5K Trail Run
The OWLS Fort Macon 5K Trail Run is scheduled for Saturday, April 11, 2026 at Fort Macon State Park in Atlantic Beach, North Carolina. The event uses park trails and the listed location is 2303 East Fort Macon Road, Atlantic Beach, NC 28512.
The course uses cross country style surfaces with moderate elevation. Trail sections are both wooded and exposed to full sun, and the route includes footbridge crossings and repeated views of Beaufort Inlet, Bogue Sound and the Atlantic Ocean.
The event is presented by Outer Banks Wildlife Shelter, Inc. OWLS is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) wildlife shelter that rehabilitates and releases injured, sick and orphaned native North Carolina wildlife. OWLS provides educational outreach to classrooms and community events, holds required state and federal permits, and relies on public and private donations rather than county, state or federal funding.
Practical details provided by the organizer include a registration fee of $35, which includes an OWLS short sleeve tee shirt. Participants who register by March 31 are guaranteed a race shirt.
