Outrun Hunger 5K - Dahlonega
The Dawson Community Food Bank & Thrift is organizing the inaugural Outrun Hunger 5K, to be held on October 24, 2026 at Yahoola Creek Park in Dahlonega. The event combines an in-person 5K and a virtual race to raise funds and food for local households.
Distances
- 5K certified course, described as flat and family and spectator friendly
- Virtual race option with online time submission
Participants receive custom finisher medals and race shirts. Awards include overall prizes and the top three finishers in five-year age groups from 10 & Under through 80+. A food drive and raffle run alongside the race; each donated canned or dry good earns one raffle ticket.
All net proceeds support the Dawson Community Food Bank & Thrift, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and the largest food bank agency in the Georgia Mountain Food Bank network. The campaign aims to support about 3,000 local households totaling 8,800 individuals, including approximately 1,900 seniors and 2,400 children.
Sponsorship options are listed with tiered benefits: Bronze $300 for logo on the back of the shirt, Silver $500 for larger shirt placement, and Gold $1,000 with additional event marketing placement. Sponsorship commitments are requested by October 1. Registration pricing varies by deadline, with early, regular, late, and race-day rates; registrations made by October 14 are guaranteed race swag in the selected size.
