OUTLAST BLUE RIDGE
OUTLAST BLUE RIDGE is a six hour trail endurance event held at Tyron International Hunter State Park in Mill Spring, NC. Participants run a 5K loop every hour. Each lap must be completed within the hour to remain in the event; finishing early allows rest until the next round, and missing a lap eliminates a participant.
Each 5K is timed individually. Runners who complete all six laps have their combined time counted for local awards and national ranking. Courses are trail based with natural terrain, elevation changes, and variable surface conditions such as dirt, rocks, roots, occasional pavement, and gravel.
Recognition is awarded as follows: four completed laps earn a “Grit Earned” patch, five laps earn a “Survivor” patch, and six laps earn a premium OUTLAST medal. All participants receive a premium OUTLAST tee. The top male and female by combined 5K times at each event win the 1st Place OUTLAST award. Finishers are placed on a national leaderboard; the fastest overall time across OUTLAST 6-hour events receives a national prize of $1,000. City 6-hour champions may earn places in an Outlast Championship event where additional prizes are awarded.
Aid is provided at a basecamp or loop start with water, basic hydration, and snacks. This event is cupless; participants should bring their own bottle or hydration system. Trail shoes, layers, and fueling between laps are recommended. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
