About the race
Our Fallen Hero 5K Run/Walk in Memory of PFC Aaron Toppen is a community memorial event held on September 26, 2026 at Willowview Park in Mokena, Illinois. The event features a 5K (3.1 miles) on a USATF certified course that weaves through Mokena streets, including Townline Road also named PFC Memorial Drive. The course is an out, loop and back route with start and finish near the NW entrance of the Willowview Park parking lot on 115th Street.
All participants must complete the course within 60 minutes. Chip timing uses a disposable tag attached to the back of the race bib; runners must wear the bib on the front of their clothing and avoid covering or bending the chip. Smart watches and phones can interfere with timing and times from those devices will not be accepted for official results. Results are posted online within 24 hours.
Pre registered participants receive a custom designed wicking T shirt (women red, men blue, kids white), a goodie bag, and post race refreshments provided by Berkots and local vendors. Pre race warm up includes a SPENGA workout and a live DJ. An awards ceremony recognizes overall male and female winners and first place finishers in the event age categories. Raffles are held on race day with an early registration raffle entry period; the prize listed is a tabletop solo stove.
