Event Overview
ÖTILLÖ Austin USA takes place in Pace Bend Park, located in the Texas Hill Country northwest of Austin. The event serves as the conclusion to the ÖTILLÖ Swimrun USA season, featuring a course characterized by single-track forest trails, limestone cliffs, and rocky coves along Lake Travis. Participants navigate a series of runs and swims, including entries into the Colorado River.
The race environment includes a wildlife preserve in the park's interior accessible only by foot, bicycle, or horseback. Athletes may encounter local wildlife such as whitetail deer and various bird species. The terrain features high cliffs and rocky sections, with elevations varying by race distance.
Race Categories
The event offers three distinct distances for participants to choose from:
- Austin Experience: Total distance 9,895 m, featuring 1,765 m of swimming and 8,130 m of running.
- Austin Sprint: Total distance 15,445 m, featuring 3,215 m of swimming and 12,230 m of running with 131 m elevation.
- Austin World Series: Total distance 25,095 m, featuring 4,820 m of swimming and 20,275 m of running with 255 m elevation.
Format and Equipment
Participants can compete in teams or as solo racers. Mandatory gear includes a wetsuit, swim cap, number bib, and timing chip. Solo racers must also carry a personal flotation device. Teams are required to carry a whistle, a pressure bandage, and a tether.
Logistics
Race headquarters is located at Camp Texlake within Pace Bend Park. On-site lodging at the camp includes communal facilities and breakfast. The park is approximately one hour by car from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. Water stops along the course provide water, electrolytes, and gels.
