About the race
The 3rd Annual Downers Grove Run for Resilience Ostomy 5k Run and Walk takes place on October 3, 2026 at Byram Healthcare, 3010 Woodcreek Drive, Suite A, Downers Grove, IL 60515. The event is held in observance of Ostomy Awareness Day with the theme One Community. Stronger Together.
Event features include professional run timing, a looped 5k course that starts on Birchwood Place, proceeds to Lacey Road and Woodcreek Drive, and returns to Birchwood Place with the 5k finishing on Woodcreek Drive. Packet pick-up is available on race day. Free parking is available at the Byram Healthcare office.
Multiple participation options are offered:
- 5K for general and ostomate categories
- 50-yard dash for ages 5 and under and for ages 6 through 10
Prizes include medals for the top three overall 5k finishers by gender and for the top three 5k finishers in the ostomate category, awards for the top three finishers in each kids run, and door prizes awarded after the awards ceremony. Complimentary post-race refreshments and race bags with sponsor samples will be provided. The event is pet friendly and will supply water and a water bowl for animals.
All proceeds benefit the United Ostomy Associations of America, Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization. Fundraising incentives include a refund of the registration fee for participants who raise $150 or more and other fundraising recognition levels.
