Event Details
The 3rd Annual Downers Grove, IL Ostomy 5k is held on Saturday, October 3, 2026. The main event is a 5k run, walk, or roll, with separate registration categories for an Open division and an Ostomate division. There are also 50-yard dash Kids Runs for children ages 5 and under and 6 through 10. The event is part of Ostomy Awareness Day.
Location and Course
The event takes place at Byram Healthcare on Woodcreek Drive in Downers Grove, Illinois. There is ample free parking. The 5k course is a loop starting on Birchwood Place, proceeding to Lacey Road and Woodcreek Drive, and returning to Birchwood Place to finish on Woodcreek Drive. A course map is available and will be posted.
Registration and Fees
Registration is $35 for the 5k events and $20 for the Kids Runs. This fee includes a t-shirt, bib, and participant swag bag. Early bird pricing for the 5k is available until July 25. To guarantee t-shirt size, participants must register by September 4. Participant numbers are capped at 100 for the year.
On the Day
Packet pick-up is available on race day from 8:45 AM to 9:30 AM. Professional timing services are provided. The schedule includes a group photo, the 5k start, the Kids Runs, and an awards ceremony. Pets are welcome, and water will be provided for them. Complimentary refreshments, including fruit donations and a mobile juice bar, will be available after the race.
Awards and Fundraising
Medals are awarded to the top three overall male and female finishers in the 5k, and the top three finishers in the Ostomate category. Awards are also given to the top three finishers in each Kids Run. All proceeds benefit the United Ostomy Associations of America (UOAA). A fundraising program offers incentives, and participants who raise $150 or more get their registration fee refunded. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
