3rd Annual Downers Grove, IL Ostomy 5k
The Run for Resilience Ostomy 5k is held in Downers Grove, Illinois on October 3, 2026, in celebration of Ostomy Awareness Day. The event benefits the United Ostomy Associations of America, Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization. The host organization and event partners provide professional run timing services and race day packet pick-up.
Distances offered:
- 5K run/walk/roll
- 50-yard Kids Run for ages 5 and under
- 50-yard Kids Run for ages 6 through 10
The 5K uses a looped course that follows Birchwood Place to Lacey Road to Woodcreek Drive and returns to Birchwood Place, ending on Woodcreek Drive. Participants may run, walk, or roll any or all of the course, but awards are limited to those who complete the full 5K.
On-site amenities include free parking at the Byram Healthcare office, water and a water bowl for pets, complimentary post-race refreshments, and race bags with sponsor samples. Medals are planned for the top three overall 5K finishers by gender and for the top three finishers in the Ostomate category. Awards are also planned for the top three finishers in each Kids Run, and door prizes will be awarded after the ceremony; winners must be present to receive door prizes.
Registration fees are listed for each event; volunteer sign-up is available at no charge. Fundraising options include a refund of the registration fee for individuals who raise a specified amount, and tiered fundraising recognition levels are outlined.
