Event Overview
The ORRRC Wingman 10k is a 10 km running event held at EJ Nutter Park in Beavercreek, Ohio. The course is flat and paved, following the Creekside Trail. The event is organized by the Ohio River Road Runners Club, a volunteer-based non-profit running club.
Event Details
The race features a team-based structure with a focus on camaraderie. Participants are randomly assigned to color-coded teams: runners to one of six colored teams and walkers to one of two colored teams. The race uses a staggered start system based on age and gender to even out team competition. The event includes chip timing.
Registration and Fees
Registration is available online. The race is free for current Ohio River Road Runners Club members and for military personnel and veterans with valid identification. For non-members, the fee is $10 for ages 15 and up, while participants aged 14 and under can join for free.
Origin
The event was created to honor Joshua Shepherd, a service member who died in a 2008 B-52 crash, and other fallen military personnel. The race director initiated the event to commemorate a friend and promote values of friendship and perseverance. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
