Event Overview
The ORRRC Gift Exchange 5k is organized by the Ohio River Road Runners Club, an all-volunteer non-profit club promoting running in the Dayton, Ohio area. The event takes place at the Kettering Recreation Complex on Glengarry Drive in Kettering.
Participation and Fees
The event is part of the club's series of "small races." Entry is free for Ohio River Road Runners Club members and for participants aged 14 and under. For others, there is a fee, though no traditional entry fee is required. Instead, all participants are asked to bring a wrapped gift valued around $10 to be entered into a gift exchange. The race is chip-timed by volunteer timers.
Event Format
The event centers on a 5k run followed by a large gift exchange among all participants. All finishers receive a gift from the exchange. Overall male and female winners receive an additional special gift. The organizers note it is a family-friendly event.
Registration and Logistics
Pre-registration is available online. Race day registration is available online until approximately 15 minutes before the start and via hard copy if needed. Participants are advised to arrive at least one hour before the start for parking and registration. Volunteers are welcome and may also participate in the gift exchange if they bring a gift.
