Event Overview
The ORRRC Possum Creek 5k Trail Race is a running event presented by the Ohio River Road Runners Club, an all-volunteer, non-profit organization based in Dayton, Ohio. The race takes place on a trail course within Possum Creek Metropark.
Course Details
The 5 km course consists of varied terrain including dirt, gravel, meadow, and grass surfaces. There are no water crossings, and the elevation change is described as very low. Trail shoes are not required.
Location & Parking
The event starts at Sycamore Shelter, located at 4730 Frytown Road, Dayton, Ohio. Parking is in the Possum Creek Metropark Reservable Shelter area. Parking on grass is not permitted and space is limited, so carpooling is encouraged. Additional parking is available at the Pond Parking lot, which involves a half-mile walk to the start and finish area.
Registration & Fees
Participants can pre-register online through RunSignup. On race day, a green table at registration handles chip distribution.
- ORRRC Members: Free (requires online registration with membership profile or proof of membership on race day).
- Non-members ages 15 and up: $10.
- Ages 14 and under: Free.
Online registration closes approximately 15 minutes before the race start. Hard-copy registration is also available on site.
Additional Information
The event provides a chip-timed finish, refreshments, and the possibility of age group awards. Race-day volunteers are all runners from the club. The event does not include race shirts or finisher medals. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
