Event Details

The ORRC Free Member 5K Run/Walk is a Poker Run event held on Labor Day. It is free for pre-registered members of the Oregon Road Runners Club (ORRC). Non-members can participate for a registration fee. Registration closes the day before the event, and there is no registration on the day of the event. Participation is capped at 150 people.

Course and Format

The event takes place on a 5K course within Greenway Park in Beaverton, starting and finishing at Tractor Park. The course consists of three out-and-back legs on a paved bike trail. The terrain is flat. The path is open to other users like bicyclists.

This is not a timed running event. Instead, it is a Poker Run/Walk. Participants begin with two playing cards and collect one additional card at each of the three turnaround points. At the finish, each person presents a five-card poker hand. The best poker hand wins.

Participant Information

Street parking is available near the Greenway Park Shelter at SW Greenway Blvd and SW Parkview Loop. The event begins near the basketball courts and play area in Tractor Park.

No dogs or strollers are permitted on the narrow paths. The use of personal music devices is strongly discouraged. Water, bananas, and donuts or pastries are provided after the event. There are no aid stations on the course, but water is available at the start/finish area. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
