ORRC Member Poker Run and Walk

The ORRC Free Member 5K Run/Walk is a community event held in Beaverton on Labor Day morning. This non-timed event takes place on a flat, paved course within Greenway Park. The route consists of three out-and-back legs that start and finish at Tractor Park, located approximately one-quarter mile east of Greenway Elementary School.

The event follows a poker-style format where participants collect cards at specific points along the course:

  • 5 km

Participants begin with two playing cards. At each of the three turnarounds, runners and walkers pick up an additional card. By the end of the course, each person has a five-card poker hand to present at the finish line. Prizes are awarded to those with the best poker hands, such as a royal flush, straight flush, or four of a kind.

Due to the width of the bike trail and facility limitations, the event is capped at 150 participants. Registration remains open until 5:00 p.m. the day before the event; there is no registration available on the morning of the activity. The park remains open to other guests, such as bicyclists, so participants must remain aware of their surroundings. Dogs and strollers are not permitted due to the narrow paths, and the use of personal music devices is discouraged. Water is available at the start and finish area, and post-race refreshments include bananas and pastries. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
