ORRC Dual Duel Run and Race Walk
The event is a track relay meeting held at Rex Putnam High School in Milwaukie, Oregon. It includes a free kids run plus relay races contested either as runs or race walks.
Key event formats:
- Kids Run: 400 m (one lap on the track)
- Dual Duel: two-person 10-mile track relay, run or race walk
- Quad Relay: four-person 10-mile track relay, run or race walk
Ten miles on this metric track is completed in about 40 laps. To make the distance exact, the first lap is 493.4 meters and all remaining laps are 400 meters. Each team uses a single baton that contains a timing chip; exchanges must occur within the marked Exchange Zone. In the Dual Duel partners alternate laps so each completes 20 laps (about 5 miles). In the Quad Relay the baton cycles through four teammates so each completes 10 laps (about 2.5 miles).
A complimentary 400-meter kids lap is offered to encourage family participation. Ribbons are awarded five-deep for top finishers: Race Walk and Quad Relay in open Men/Women/Mixed divisions; Dual Duel relay runs in five age-group categories determined by the sum of team members' ages.
