About the race
The Bayley's Orewa Beach Fun Run is organised by Orewa College Alumni & Friends for Ōrewa College and takes place on Orewa Beach at the Ōrewa Surf Life Saving Club & Cafe. The event offers timed and untimed options on courses that are run entirely on sand at low tide, with no roads or footpaths on course.
Distances:
- 2.5 km run or walk on sand
- 5 km run or walk on sand
Both distances start at the finish arch on Orewa Beach and use turnaround flags to mark the route; participants are asked to keep to the left side of the course. Entrants choose a Race or Fun start group; race entrants start at the front. The first 1,000 finishers receive a medal. The event includes an opening performance by the Ōrewa College Kapa Haka group and a sausage sizzle after the run. Organisers encourage sustainable practices such as bringing a filled water bottle and taking home everything brought to the event. Group entries of three or more receive a price reduction per person when entered together. All event profits are returned to Ōrewa College to support the school and its students.
