Oreland 5K
The East Oreland Neighborhood Association (EONA) organizes the Oreland 5K, a community athletic event held in Oreland, Pennsylvania. Now in its thirteenth year, the event features multiple distances to accommodate different types of movement and age groups. Participants can choose between several specific events:
- 5K run
- 1 mile walk
- 0.5 miles kids run
The race starts and finishes at 110 Wischman Avenue. The event serves as a fundraiser, with proceeds donated to The Breathing Room Foundation. This non-profit organization provides individualized support to families in the greater Philadelphia region who are affected by cancer. Their work includes financial assistance for critical needs, transportation to medical treatments, and home-based services such as meal delivery and groceries.
The foundation has supported over 20,000 families across Montgomery, Bucks, Delaware, Philadelphia, and Chester counties since 1997. By participating in this event, runners and walkers contribute to programs that provide emotional and physical support to patients and their families, including school supplies and holiday baskets for children. Registration is required for all three event distances. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
