Oregon Trail Game® 5K, 1 Mile & Kid's Fun Run
The event recreates the 1980s computer game The Oregon Trail as an interactive running experience. Participants make decisions during the course that contribute to a game score in addition to a timed result. The event supports local schools.
Distances offered:
- 5K with timed and game scoring
- 1 Mile Walk
- Kids Fun Run, approximately 100 yards for ages 6 and under and 200 yards for ages 7 to 11; untimed
The course starts and ends at the End of the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center and passes local landmarks including the 100-year-old Municipal Elevator. The route includes a 223-step stair section alongside Singer Hill Falls, overlooks of the Willamette River and Willamette Falls, and runs through the historic McLoughlin neighborhood past the Carnegie Library, McLoughlin House and Barclay House.
Registration details vary by event. For the 5K and kids run, registration opens October 1, 2025; the 1 Mile Walk registration opens January 11, 2026. Registration closes May 1, 2026. Listed fees are $45 for the 5K, $35 for the 1 Mile Walk, and free for the Kids Fun Run. An event shirt is included with registration if completed before May 8; limited shirts are available afterward and shirts may be mailed after May 23 if a size is unavailable.
