Oregon Trail Game 5K, 1 Mile & Kid's Fun Run

The Oregon Trail Game 5K is an interactive running event in Oregon City inspired by the classic 1980s computer game. Participants navigate a course where they make decisions similar to those faced by pioneers traveling from Missouri to Oregon. These choices affect a separate "game score" that participants receive at the conclusion of the event alongside their traditional timed results.

The event offers several distances and participation options:

  • 5K (3.1 miles)
  • 1 Mile Walk
  • Kid's Fun Run (approximately 100 to 200 yards)

The course begins and ends at the End of the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center. It leads participants through the historic McLoughlin neighborhood and past several local landmarks, including the Carnegie Library, McLoughlin House, and Barclay House. The route also features views of the Willamette River and Willamette Falls, a passage by the 100-year-old Municipal Elevator, and a section involving 223 steps alongside Singer Hill Falls.

The Kid's Fun Run is a free, untimed event open to children aged 11 and under. It is divided into two age groups: children aged 6 and under run approximately 100 yards, while those aged 7-11 run approximately 200 yards. Participants who register by May 1st receive an event shirt. The event is organized by the Oregon City Schools Foundation to support local schools and celebrate regional heritage.
