Event overview

The 2026 Operation Enduring Warrior run offers three race distances along the Potomac River at Great Falls Park, Maryland. Distances include:

  • 5k
  • 10k
  • Half marathon

The event benefits Operation Enduring Warrior, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Walkers are permitted and a virtual race option is available.

Course and logistics

All routes run along the C&O Canal towpath on a light gravel dirt road with minimal elevation change and use out-and-back layouts. Race registration does not include the park entrance fee. Packet pickup is available at the event. Live results will be posted on Athlinks and a QR code will provide immediate race results on site; final results with series points are posted the Monday after the race.

Water stations:

  • Half marathon: 7 stations at approximately miles 1.55, 2.8, 5.5, 6.55, 7.6, 10.3, and 11.55.
  • 10k: 4 stations at approximately miles 1.55, 2.8, 3.4, and 4.65.
  • 5k: 1 station at approximately mile 1.55. Gatorade will be available at some stations; station locations are subject to change.

Entries, gear and awards

Registered participants receive a finisher’s coin, a technical Dri-Fit event shirt, and chip timing. T-shirts are guaranteed for registrations completed before March 18; extras may be available after that date on a first-come, first-served basis. Early registration fees are published with increases after specified dates and a further increase on race morning.

Awards are given to the top three men and women overall and to 1st and 2nd place in standard age categories; overall top-3 finishers are not eligible for age-group prizes. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
