Open Water Swim Challenge & Aquathlon
Open Water Swim Challenge & Aquathlon takes place at Cedar Hill State Park, South Boat Ramp in Cedar Hill, Texas. The program includes standalone open water swims and aquathlons, which combine a swim with a run. Events are available for individual competitors, relay teams of two, USMS members, and adaptive athletes.
Registration opens November 1, 2026 and closes January 1, 2027. Registration fees vary by event; listed fees in the program range from $30 to $65.
Distances and race formats include:
- 750 m swim
- 1500 m swim
- 2.4 miles swim
- 750 m swim + 5 km run
- 1500 m swim + 10 km run
Relay entries are offered for the sprint and Olympic aquathlon distances as two-person teams. Designated USMS waves are available for the swim distances; a $20 discount applies when a USMS number is entered and those waves count toward the US South Central Zone Grand Prix. Adaptive categories are listed for the 1500 m and 2.4 mile swims and are described in the context of multisport adaptive competition.
