Event Overview
The Big Chief Tire One Mile Championships return to Jacksonville for their 12th year. This event features a 1 mile race conducted on a fast, flat, and spectator-friendly course consisting of two laps. The race is hosted at Fishweir Brewing Company and is chip-timed to ensure accuracy for all participants.
Athletes can choose from several competitive waves based on their ability and racing goals:
- 1 mile Men's and Women's Open Divisions
- 1 mile Men's Clydesdale and Women's Athena Divisions
- 1 mile Kids Divisions (Ages 13 and under, and 14-18)
- 1 mile Men's and Women's Championship Divisions
- 4-person Chug Relay (Participants 21+)
The Championship Divisions are reserved for men capable of running faster than 5:59 and women faster than 6:30. These elite heats offer cash prizes for top finishers and masters. The Youth races provide medals and pizza for all finishers, while Open and special weight-based divisions (Clydesdale and Athena) offer beach towel awards to top performers.
This year, the event also serves as the USATF Florida Association 1 Mile Open and Masters Championships. All participants receive a trucker hat and a complimentary beverage from the brewery. Following the final heats, an awards ceremony and post-race festivities take place on-site at the brewery. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
