Event Overview
The One In A Million 5K Run/Walk is a community event in San Antonio, Texas, taking place on September 19, 2026. The event offers two main distances: a timed 5K run/walk and a 1 mile run/walk. A virtual participation option is also available. The in-person event starts and finishes at McAllister Park (13102 Jones Maltsberger Rd).
Event Purpose
The event is a fundraiser for PMP Pals, a global support network for patients and caregivers dealing with Appendix Cancer and related conditions like Pseudomyxoma Peritonei (PMP). Net proceeds from the event support the organization's programs, including one-on-one mentoring, online community meetings, and outreach.
Registration Details
Registration includes a race shirt and a finisher medal for both the 5K and 1-mile distances. Only 5K participants are chip-timed and eligible for age group awards. Pricing follows an early registration discount structure:
- From February 10 to August 31, 2026: $40
- From September 1 to September 16, 2026: $45
- From September 17 through race day: $50
A 10% group discount applies when paying for five or more entries at once. Virtual participants receive a shirt and medal by mail (with an additional $10 shipping fee within the continental U.S.) but are not eligible for awards.
Participant Categories
- 5K - In person: Chip-timed, eligible for awards.
- 1 Mile - In person: Not chip-timed, not eligible for awards.
- Kids, Ages 4-10: $10 with a paid adult; includes shirt and medal; no chip timing or awards.
- Kids, Ages 0-3: Free with a paid adult; no chip timing or awards.
- Virtual: Choose 1 mile or 5K; includes shirt and medal; not eligible for awards.
Awards
Awards are given for the 5K distance only. Categories include overall male/female and first through third place in standard age groups from 11-15 up to 70+.
Packet Pickup
Packet pickup is available at an REI store in San Antonio on September 11, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, or on race day at McAllister Park starting at 7:00 AM.
Policies
The event does not issue refunds as it is a fundraiser. Bib transfers to another runner are possible by contacting the event organizer. Race packets (shirts) not picked up by the race start may be redistributed as size exchanges. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
