One in 26 Challenge

The One in 26 Challenge is an annual fundraising and awareness event organized by EPI in October. The 2026 event takes place on Sunday, October 4, at the Longhouse Shelter in Seneca Park, Rochester, NY. The main activity is a one-mile community walk held at Seneca Park, followed by fall-themed activities.

The event raises awareness and support for people impacted by epilepsy. Organizer materials note that one in 26 people will develop epilepsy in their lifetime, and funds and donations help sustain services for children and adults with epilepsy.

Practical details provided by the organizer include free onsite parking and tiered registration fees: ages 13 and older pay $26, children ages 3 to 12 pay $13, and children under 3 attend free. Sponsorship opportunities and donation options are available, and participants may register as individuals or join teams to raise support for specific people or groups.

Volunteers assist with set-up, check-in, onsite registration, t-shirt distribution and cleanup. Volunteers receive an EPI t-shirt and an event t-shirt. Additional event information covers sponsorship levels and how donations support the program, as well as volunteer and team participation options. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
