Overview
The Omaha Triathlon is a multi-sport event serving as the Nebraska State Championships in 2026. This will be its 17th edition. The event is held at Lake Cunningham in Omaha.
Events
The event includes several race formats for individuals and teams:
- Omaha Triathlon Olympic Distance (individual and team relay)
- Nebraska High School State Championship Sprint Distance
- Omaha Triathlon Sprint Distance
- Omaha Triathlon Olympic Aquabike (swim and bike only)
- Duathlon (5 km run / 40 km bike / 10 km run)
- Open Water Competitive Swim
- Aquathon/SwimRun
- Corporate Triathlon Competition Category (team relay, requiring three members)
The event is noted as the only Olympic-distance triathlon in the state of Nebraska.
Course Details
The bike course uses Lake Cunningham Road, North 72nd Street, and Highway 36/Bennington Road. The run course goes around the newly paved Lake Cunningham Recreation Area. Full course maps are posted on the event's website.
Additional Information
Post-race food includes pancakes and sausage for all competitors, with additional meals available for purchase for guests. A campground with shower and bathroom facilities is available for reserved guests. Awards are given for the top three overall male and female finishers in the individual Olympic and Sprint triathlons, top three in each age group, top three high school athletes (ages 15-19), top 30% of relay teams, and top three corporate relay teams. Top male and female awards are also given for the Aquabike and Duathlon events. A technical racing t-shirt is included with registration, though it is not guaranteed for late registrations. A voluntary bike drop-off is available the day before the race, and a practice swim is scheduled for that day as well. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
