Event overview
The Omaha Triathlon - Nebraska State Championships 2026 takes place on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at Lake Cunningham in Omaha, NE (8660 Lake Cunningham Rd, Entrance #1). The event marks the 17th year of the Omaha Triathlon and is presented as the only Olympic distance triathlon in Nebraska. An Athlete Guide for 2026 is posted online. Registration pricing increases after December 30, 2025. The High School Division Sprint Triathlon Relay Team registration closes July 18, 2026 at 11:59pm CDT.
Race options and course
Race options include:
- Olympic Distance (individual and team relay)
- Sprint Distance (age group individual and high school individual)
- Duathlon: 5k run / 40k bike / 10k run
- Aquabike (swim and bike)
- Open Water Competitive Swim
- Aquathon / SwimRun
- Corporate Triathlon (team relay, 3 members)
The bike course uses Lake Cunningham Road, North 72nd Street and Highway 36/Bennington Road. The run course circles Lake Cunningham Recreation Area.
Practice swim sessions and a voluntary bike drop-off are scheduled for the day before the race; details are in the Athlete Guide.
Awards and amenities
Post-race food includes pancakes and sausage for registered competitors. Reserved campground guests have shower and bathroom facilities. A technical racing shirt is offered (not guaranteed for late registrations). Awards include overall top 3 male and female in Olympic and Sprint, top 3 by age group, top 3 high school overall (ages 15-19), awards to the top 30% of relay teams, top 3 corporate relay teams, and top male and female in aquabike and duathlon.
