9th Annual Om Memorial 5K Run and 1 Mile Walk
The event takes place on May 17, 2026 at Thompson Park, Thompson Drive and Lakeview Ave, Monroe Township, NJ 08831. It includes two separate events: a 5 km run and a 1 mile walk. The event supports pediatric cancer research and honors Optimistic Om’s spirit.
Registration opens January 18, 2026 and closes April 30, 2026. Registration fees listed by the organizer are $28.00 for the 5K and $12.00 for the 1 mile walk. The event is organized by Monroe Indians for Civic Action (MICA) and supported by Agraj Seva Kendra, Indian Cultural Association of Monroe (ICAM), Sewa International - Central NJ and Guru Nanak Sikh Heritage.
Parking and site notes from the organizer indicate that park entrances may be closed to vehicles during parts of the program; alternative parking is available in the Fir Drive lots off Perrineville Road and in Jamesburg near Railroad Avenue. Attendees are asked not to park in the high school parking lot. The organizer recommends bringing lawn chairs and blankets for the program area near the gazebo.
Awards include overall first place for male and female, age-group awards for multiple categories from under 10 through 71 and over, and a participant medal for all entrants under 10. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
