Old Hallowell Day Road Race
The Old Hallowell Day Road Race takes place in Hallowell, Maine, with the course centered around Vaughan Field Way. The event is held in mid-July as part of the broader Old Hallowell Day celebrations. The location is situated near the Kennebec River, an area known for the migration of sturgeons during the spring and early summer.
Participants can choose from the following distances:
- 5K
- 1000 meters (Kids race for ages 10 and under)
The 5K course starts and finishes at Vaughan Field, which is located a short walking distance from the local parade and downtown festivities. This specific event is designated as a running race only; walking the course is prohibited. For the younger participants, the 1000 meter Fun Kids Race consists of a run around Vaughan Field. Prizes are awarded to children in age-specific brackets, including 3-5, 6-8, and 9-10 years old.
For the adult categories, prizes are awarded to overall winners as well as age group winners across female, male, and non-binary divisions. T-shirts are provided to participants who complete their registration by the early July deadline. The event requires mandatory pre-registration, as walk-in registration is not permitted on the day of the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
