Event Overview
The Old Goat Track Club XC Classic is a cross country event held at Waters Farm in Sutton, Massachusetts. The competition takes place on a course that winds through the fields of the farm property. This event serves as the first race in the USATF New England Cross Country Grand Prix and is also part of the USATF New England All Terrain Series.
Course and Facilities
The race follows a 5 km route primarily over natural terrain. While the course briefly crosses pavement, the surface is suitable for spikes. Free parking is available on-site with two designated lots. One lot has restricted entry and exit during race times to ensure runner safety, while the second lot offers unrestricted access.
Participants should prepare for the lack of water fountains at the site by bringing their own fluids. Post-race water and bananas are provided for runners at the finish line. Facilities include five portable toilets and one handicapped-accessible unit located near the Darling Barn. A designated area near the starting line is available for teams to set up private tents.
Competition Details
The event features two separate races:
- Women's Open 5K XC Race
- Men's Open 5K XC Race
Participants must indicate a team affiliation during registration; those not competing for a club can register as unattached. Following the completion of the men's race, an awards ceremony recognizes the top three individual finishers and top teams in both open and masters divisions. An informal gathering with food follows the event at a nearby location in Millbury. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
