About the race
The Old Goat Track Club XC Classic is a 5K cross-country race held at Waters Farm in Sutton, MA. This is the fourth running of the event and it serves as the first race in the USATF New England XC Grand Prix and is part of the USATF New England All Terrain Series.
The meet includes separate open races for women and men, each covering 5K over a field and farm route. Pre-registration is listed at $35 plus a small transaction fee; day of registration is available on site for $40 and accepts cash or Venmo. The event asks runners competing in the USATF series to confirm correct team affiliation or select Unattached if they have no team.
The course follows the same path as the previous year, briefly crossing a paved section and described as spike friendly. Parking is provided free at the farm with a single entry and exit on Waters Road; two lot options will be signed and one lot will have restricted entry and exit during races to prioritize runner safety. Volunteers will assist with traffic control.
Facilities include portable bathrooms and one handicapped accessible portable unit at the Darling Barn. There is no water fountain on site; water and bananas will be available for runners at the finish. A designated team tent area will be located near the start.
Awards include top three men and women, top teams for men and women, individual masters winners and top masters teams. The USATF series offers commemorative awards for participants who complete at least four races and prize money for top individuals in open and masters divisions.
