Ogwen | Yr Helgi Du is a skyrunning mountain event held on 31 July 2027 with base location at Plas y Brenin, Capel Curig in the Ogwen Valley of Eryri. The event offers three race distances and runs on marked mountain trails with technical terrain and significant ascent.
The courses use the Carneddau range; the 40K route also includes the Glyderau ridge. The Carneddau are described as the Front Range of Eryri and form the second highest mountains in England and Wales, with Carnedd Llywelyn noted as 21 m lower than Yr Wyddfa. Routes include exposed ridge lines and sections that increase total ascent on longer options.
On course provision includes Mountain Leader support, friendly marshals, signage, energy stations and support vehicles. The event village at Plas y Brenin provides music, commentary, shopping, food, drink and toilet facilities. Timing is by chip with online results. Finishers receive a designed memento that reflects the event location and local history. The event is delivered bilingually with signs, registration and commentary available in English and Welsh.
