About the race
Ocracoke Island Weekend Runfest combines two island road races across a weekend in Ocracoke, North Carolina. The event includes the 16th Annual Scallywag 5K/10K and the 12th Annual Blackbeard's Half Marathon and takes place on April 24 and April 25, 2027 at 1129 Irvin Garrish Hwy, Ocracoke NC.

The event supports Ocracoke Community Radio WOVV, Ocracoke School Athletic Boosters Club, and Ocracoke Community Park. Packet pickup is scheduled at 1718 Brewery on Friday, April 23 (evening), and on Saturday for the 5K/10K and on Saturday evening for the half marathon; there is no same day packet pickup for the half marathon.
All in-person 5K, 10K and half marathon finishers receive a medal. Runners in those distances also receive a quick-dry t-shirt and a tote bag; shirt sizes are guaranteed only for registrations before April 3. Water and fruit are provided after each race by The Variety Store, and water stations plus port-a-johns are placed along the half marathon course.
Awards are given to the top three male and female overall finishers and top three in age groups for each distance; first place overall male and female receive a $100 gift certificate from Soundfeet Shoes. The Lt. Maynard's Challenge pairs a Saturday 5K or 10K with the Sunday half marathon; participants must register for both races and add the Lt. Maynard's option to receive a unique finisher item. Race rules allow walkers and running strollers (strollers start behind others); only service dogs are permitted and bikes and skateboards are not allowed. No refunds are issued.
