Ocracoke Island Weekend Runfest 5K, 10K & Half Marathon
The event takes place in Ocracoke, NC on Saturday, April 25 and Sunday, April 26, 2026. It includes the following events:
- 5K

- Half Marathon
- Virtual 5K
- Virtual 1/2 Marathon
This is the 15th Annual Scallywag 5K/10K and the 10th Annual Blackbeard's Half Marathon. The weekend includes the Lt. Maynard's Challenge, which requires completing a Scallywag 5K or 10K on Saturday and the Blackbeard's Half Marathon on Sunday; challenge finishers receive a unique finisher item. The event benefits Ocracoke Community Radio WOVV, Ocracoke School Athletic Boosters Club, and Ocracoke Community Park.
Logistics and race details
Packet pickup is at 1718 Brewery: Friday, April 24 (5:00-7:30 PM) and Saturday, April 25 (times for 5K/10K and half marathon pickups noted). There is no same-day packet pickup for the half marathon. Fee structure for in-person events: 5K/10K entry starts at $35 and increases to $50 on race weekend; half marathon entry starts at $60 and increases to $80 on race weekend. Virtual entries are listed as $40 for the virtual 5K and $65 for the virtual half. In-person runners receive a quick-dry t-shirt and a tote bag; sizes are guaranteed for registrations before April 3. All finishers in the 5K, 10K and half marathon receive medals. Awards are given to the top three male and female overall finishers and top three in age groups; first-place overall winners receive a $100 gift certificate from Soundfeet Shoes.
The virtual events may be completed anytime April 18-26, 2026; virtual runs are not officially timed but the RaceJoy app can provide a GPS-based time and an online leaderboard. Water and fruit are provided after races; the half marathon course will have water stations and port-a-johns. A post-run party is scheduled at 1718 Brewery with beer available to those 21 or older with ID. Walkers and running strollers are allowed; strollers must start behind runners and walkers. No pets except service dogs, and no bikes or skateboards are allowed. The event is timed by Run The East, LLC. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
