The Zydeco Marathon is a two-day running event held in Lafayette, Louisiana, located in the heart of Cajun Country. The weekend features multiple distances to accommodate different participation levels. Saturday events take place at Parc International and include shorter distances, while Sunday serves as the main race day for longer endurance events.
Available race distances:
- Full Marathon
- Half Marathon
- Half Marathon 2-Person Relay
- 5K
- 1 Mile Fun Run
The marathon and half marathon courses are USATF sanctioned and certified for accuracy, making the event a qualifier for the Boston Marathon. All proceeds from the race are directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Participants in the timed events receive a race bib and timing chip, while finishers receive a medal or ribbon depending on the category.
On-course support includes hydration stations placed at approximately 1.5-mile intervals. After the Sunday races, participants can access the Finish Line Festival featuring live music, food, and drinks. A secure zone is maintained at the finish line for medal distribution and photography, where spectators are not permitted. Participants must meet minimum age requirements: 15 years for the full marathon and 13 years for the half marathon. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
