2027 Zydeco Marathon
The Zydeco Marathon is a two-day running event held in Lafayette, Louisiana, in the heart of Cajun Country. Now entering its 14th year, the event offers multiple distances across a single weekend, with different races taking place on Saturday and Sunday. The event is organized by Funraisers for St Jude Inc., and all proceeds support St Jude Children's Research Hospital.
The available distances include:
- Full Marathon (26.2 miles)
- Half Marathon (13.1 miles)
- Half Marathon 2-Person Relay
- 5K
- 1 Mile Fun Run
The Full Marathon and Half Marathon courses are USATF certified for accuracy and sanctioned as qualifying events for the Boston Marathon. On-course support includes hydration stations located approximately every 1.5 miles. The routes are staffed by volunteers and traffic control officers.
Participants in the Sunday events (Marathon, Half, and Relay) receive a race bib, gear bag, race shirt, and a finisher's medal. These events are chip-timed and include access to a finish line festival featuring live music, food, and drinks at Parc International. Participants in the 5K receive a shirt and medal, while 1 Mile Fun Run participants receive a finisher's ribbon.
The event enforces specific age requirements for its longer distances. Participants must be at least 15 years old for the Full Marathon and at least 13 years old for the Half Marathon. All race items must be collected in person at the designated packet pickup location in Downtown Lafayette, as no items are mailed. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
