Occoneechee State Park Turkey Trot
The event takes place on November 14, 2026 at Occoneechee State Park in Clarksville, Virginia. It includes a community 5K run and a one mile kids fun run held on park roads and trails along John Kerr Lake.
Distances:
- 5K officially timed and measured
- 1 Mile kids fun run for children 13 and under
The kids run allows parental assistance and strollers; all child participants receive a medal, a swag bag, and healthy refreshments. The 5K is open to all ages; well-mannered leashed pets and costumes are welcome. Medals are awarded to the top three overall male and female finishers and to the top three male and female finishers in these age groups: 19 and under, 20–29, 30–39, 40–49, 50–59, and 60 and up. An award for Best Costume, an archery program, and a disc golf contest will follow the 5K.
Race packets will be available on the day of the event. Optional T-shirts can be ordered by October 17, 2026. Park entry is $7 or entry may be covered by donating four cans of food. Registration opens August 1 and closes November 12; late registration runs November 9 through November 12 with adjusted fees. Proceeds support park projects such as walkways, a sensory trail, and other improvements; past efforts included a new disc golf course and a canned food donation.
