Rise of the Obstacles
Rise of the Obstacles is an obstacle course racing event held at a permanent outdoor facility in Wallkill, New York. Taking place over two days, the event features specific days for different age groups, with youth events scheduled for Saturday and adult events on Sunday. The course focuses on skill-based challenges including walls, rigs, crawls, carries, and balance elements on technical trails.
The event offers varied formats:
- 100m Sprint OCR: A competitive, high-density obstacle course for adults. Participants have two attempts to record their fastest time.
- 50m Sprint OCR: A competitive short course for children aged 6-13, with two attempts allowed.
- 5k Endurance OCR: A non-competitive course for adults that consists of two laps with obstacle variations in each round.
- 1k OCR: A non-competitive endurance course for children featuring age-appropriate obstacles and supportive staff.
- Teddy Bear Crawl: A charity-focused component supporting a nonprofit that provides comfort items to children in hospitals.
Adult competitive categories are divided into age groups ranging from 14-19 to 60+. For youth events, children under 6 may participate with parental assistance on a non-timed basis. Finishing participants receive a 3D hybrid medal featuring glow accents. The facility includes on-site event parking with specific areas for 4WD vehicles and portable restrooms located near the parking field.
