Oakwood24
Oakwood24 is an annual 24 hour run and walk held to raise funds for Healing Transitions. The 2026 edition is presented as the ninth annual event and takes place on November 21, 2026 at Lakeside Retreats, a new venue chosen after seven years at Oakwood Cemetery. The venue offers space for camping, extensive parking, family friendly activities, and unpaved running trails.
The event is an official timed ultra run and includes distance, time, and relay options. Participants run and walk over an extended period to support services for homeless, uninsured, and underserved individuals in Wake County who struggle with addiction. To date, Oakwood24 has raised more than $1,000,000 for Healing Transitions.
On the Saturday morning of the event there is a Remembrance Hour to honor people who have lost their lives to the disease of addiction. The event also provides multiple ways to support fundraising efforts, including individual donations, sponsorships, and team fundraising. The event was founded by an ultra-runner who used long-distance running as part of a recovery process and who continues to organize the run as a recurring community fundraiser.
