One notable feature of the event is its charitable focus. One hundred percent of race proceeds support local conservation efforts through the Genesee Valley Conservancy. The conservancy works in the Genesee River watershed to protect habitat, open space and farmland. Its nature preserves provide free access to hiking trails for education and recreation, and conservation easements on private lands help protect natural resources to ensure they remain in the community now and for future generations.
