Event overview
The Oak Ridges Moraine Adventure Relay is scheduled for June 13, 2026, in Gores Landing, Ontario. The event is a human-powered relay across the Oak Ridges Moraine that combines canoeing, biking, and running or hiking. The full route begins with a canoe leg on Rice Lake in the east and heads west across the Moraine toward York Region. The event also serves as a fundraiser for the Oak Ridges Trail Association to support trail maintenance and awareness.
Format and logistics
- Full Relay: ~160 km (canoe, bike, run/hike)
- Half Relay: ~90 km (first half of the route, no canoe leg)
- Bike stages: ~95 km total across 6 stages
- Run/hike stages: ~55 km total across 7 stages
Teams may include up to 15 members for the Full Relay and up to 7 members for the Half Relay. With the exception of the two-person canoe stage, one team member completes each stage, though individuals may do multiple stages. The event has Elite and Recreational divisions. Elite teams are timed by total gun time from the first paddle to the final runner. Recreational teams are timed by the summed time of each leg; changeovers are not included in the clock. Support includes water and snacks at checkpoints; participants are expected to be self-sufficient between checkpoints. The exact 2026 route, stages, and final stage distances are still being finalized. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
