Event Details
The Peterborough Butterfly Run takes place on April 26, 2026, in Peterborough, Ontario. The event's purpose is to raise awareness and funds to support families and individuals who have experienced loss during pregnancy, the loss of a child, or infertility.
Available Races
Three in-person participation options are offered:
- A free Memorial Walk.
- A 1K Kids Fun Run.
- A traditional 5K Run/Walk starting from Millennium Park and heading into East City. A virtual 5K option is also available.
Registration and Fees
Online registration is available until noon on April 23, 2026. In-person registration is also available at Runner’s Life (174 Charlotte Street, Peterborough) and on the event day, though advance registration is strongly encouraged. The fee for the 5K is $45, the Kids 1K Fun Run is $5, and the Memorial Walk is free.
Race Kit and Pickup
All registered participants receive a medal and a customizable race bib. 5K participants who register by the shirt deadline of April 6 also receive a t-shirt and other race kit items. Kit pickup occurs on April 24 and 25 at 185 King Street in downtown Peterborough. Race day pickup is available, but participants are encouraged to pick up in advance.
Fundraising
Participants can collect donations online. Funds raised support community initiatives such as specialized education for health service providers, lending libraries on pregnancy loss and infertility, and bereavement kits for families.
