Oak Mountain 50K

Oak Mountain 50K is a set of trail races held in Oak Mountain State Park near Pelham, AL. Distances offered include:

• 50K
• 25K
• 6 Miler

The courses run on mostly single track trails through forested hills and include two climbs to the top of Double Oak Mountain. The 50K route gains approximately 3,600 feet in elevation and does not use repeating loops. Runners pass natural features such as Peavine Falls, a roughly 65 foot naturally fed waterfall, and traverse areas near Maggie's Glen and Shackleford Point, the park high point at about 1,260 feet.

Course formats described for each distance start and finish at the Dogwood Pavilion and use named trails including Yellow, Blue, White, Red, Lake, Rattlesnake Ridge, and Family Trail. The 50K includes four manned aid stations and multiple water only points along the route; the 25K and 6 Miler have water stops and at least one aid station on their courses. Time limits are published for each distance.

Park entrance passes are purchased at the front gate with stated fees and some free admissions for young children and active, retired, and veteran military. Packet pickup locations, parking, and restrooms are provided at the Dogwood Pavilion and at a local outfitter the day before the event. Entry rules note no refunds, no race day registration, no transfers, and prohibited on-course items including strollers, animals, bicycles, and unentered runners.
