Oak Mountain 50K, March 28, 2026
Oak Mountain 50K is held at Oak Mountain State Park in Pelham, Alabama. The event includes three distance options and runs on mostly single track trails through forested hills and ridgelines. The 50K route gains approximately 3,600 feet in elevation and does not use repeating loops.
The course passes Peavine Falls, an approximately 65 foot naturally fed waterfall, and traverses Maggie's Glen and Shackleford Point, the park high point at about 1,260 ft. The 50K route uses a sequence of marked trails including Yellow, Blue, White, and Red trails, with several aid and water-only points along the way. The 25K and 6 Miler follow separate out-and-back and partial loop pathways to the same start and finish area at Dogwood Pavilion.
Time limits are specified for each distance: 50K 9 hours 30 minutes, 25K 9 hours, and 6 Miler 5 hours. There are four manned aid stations on the 50K plus additional water-only stations; the 25K has at least one manned aid station and water stops. Parking and restrooms are available at Dogwood Pavilion. Park entrance passes are purchased at the gate; fees apply for adults, children, and seniors while active and retired military and veterans enter free.
Awards include overall and age category recognition and a finisher medal for all finishers. Packet pickup is at Dogwood Pavilion on race morning. Camping is available in the state park and hotels are available in Pelham and Inverness. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
