NYPD Memorial 5K Run/Walk
The event is a 5K run and memorial walk held in Lower Manhattan with the course beginning on Liberty Street at West Street and finishing on West Street within a block of the start. The course is USATF certified. Pre and post-race amenities, including bib pickup, are located on Liberty Street between South End Avenue and West Street, and a pre-race memorial service is held at the NYC Police Memorial Wall near the Battery Park City Esplanade and Liberty Street.
Registration for the in-person event includes an event T-shirt, a personalized bib, and a memorial towel used for the referenced year. Packet pickup options include an in-person pre-race location at Midtown South Police Precinct and a day of race pickup on Liberty Street; virtual entries receive shipped packets. Friends or family may pick up packets on behalf of participants when permitted.
Awards are presented across multiple categories, including top three overall male and female, law enforcement, masters (40 and over), law enforcement masters, and standard age groups from 14 and under through 70 plus, with no duplication of awards and law enforcement awards taking precedence for those registered as officers except overall winners.
The event partners with the NYPD Running Club and the Metro New York chapter of Concerns Of Police Survivors, with proceeds designated to support surviving families and affected co-workers of NYPD officers who died in the line of duty.
