NYCRUNS Frozen Penguin 5K : Central Park, New York
The NYCRUNS Frozen Penguin is a winter 5K held in Central Park. The course begins near 89th Street on West Drive, goes south to 72nd Street, returns north on East Drive and finishes at the 102nd Street Crossing. The course is USATF certified. A hydration station and bathrooms are located just before the second mile, and medical assistance is available along the course.
Race day amenities include a bag check (single clear bag provided if needed, 18 x 24 inches), bathrooms near the start, on course and at the finish, water on course and electrolyte fluids at the finish, a race singlet distributed on race day only, and a finisher medal. Event photos are included; additional photo packages can be pre-purchased. MarathonFoto hosts the race galleries and a free image will be labeled for download.
Start corrals are pace based and assigned by letter (AA through F); corral assignment appears on the bib. Bibs are available for pickup in the Festival Area on race day with a unique QR code issued the week of the event. NYCRUNS members receive free mailed bibs; non-members may add mailed bib service for an additional $25. Bib mailing requires registration at least 20 days before the event and a U.S. mailing address.
Results are emailed and posted online after the race. Overall awards go to the top three male, female and non-binary finishers by gun time. Age group awards (by net time) are given for 9 and under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70 and over.
