About the race
NYCRUNS Frozen Penguin is a 5K road race held in Central Park on January 10, 2027. The USATF certified course begins near 89th Street on West Drive, heads south to 72nd Street, then returns north on East Drive to finish at the 102nd Street Crossing. A hydration station and bathrooms are located just before Mile 2, and medical assistance is available along the course.
Start corrals are pace based and assigned by letter (AA-F) using the pace listed in the NYCRUNS Dashboard; corral letters appear on the bib. Amenities include bag check with a single clear bag provided (18 x 24), bathrooms near the start, on course, and at the finish, water on course and water and electrolyte fluids at the finish, a post race selection of bagels and a New York State apple, a race singlet distributed on race day only, and a finisher medal. Race photography includes a free downloadable image and optional discounted photo packages.
NYCRUNS members receive free bib mailing when membership is active on race day; mailed bibs require registration 20 or more days before the event and a U.S. mailing address. Bib pick up is available race morning in the Festival Area using a unique QR code from the NYCRUNS Dashboard.
Results are emailed and posted online. Awards: top three male, female, and non-binary overall by gun time; age group awards by net time for 9 and under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 and over. Prize money for qualifying NYCRUNS members is $250, $150, and $100 for first through third places.
