NYCRUNS Frozen Penguin 5K
NYCRUNS Frozen Penguin 5K is a 5K race held in Central Park. The course begins near 89th Street on West Drive, heads south to 72nd Street, then returns north on East Drive and finishes at the 102nd Street Crossing. The route is USATF certified. A hydration station and bathrooms are located just before Mile 2, and medical assistance is available along the course.
Start corrals are assigned by letter (AA-F) based on the pace listed in a participant's NYCRUNS profile; the corral appears on the bib. Bibs are distributed in the Festival Area on race day with a required QR code. NYCRUNS members may receive mailed bibs at no extra cost; non-members can request mailing for an additional fee when available. Bib mailing requires registration at least 20 days before the event and a U.S. mailing address. Participant shirts for this race are singlets and are available on race day only; sizes are not guaranteed.
On-course amenities include bag check using a single clear bag provided if needed, bathrooms near the start and finish, water stations, electrolyte fluids at the finish, post-race bagels and a New York State apple, a finisher medal, and race photos delivered after the event. Handcycle and Wheelchair divisions are included and handled through the participant profile. Results are emailed and posted online. Members receive a 10% discount and race credit options; registration closes the day before the event or earlier if capacity is reached.
