Event Information

The NYCRUNS Frozen Bonsai 5K is a running event taking place in Prospect Park, Brooklyn. The course for the 5 km distance is USATF-certified and is slightly less than a full loop of the park, finishing with a sprint up Center Drive.

Logistics

The festival area, located in the Nethermead, opens at 7:00 AM. Here, runners can pick up race bibs, shirts, check bags, and use portable bathrooms. Bag check requires a single clear bag, which can be provided. Start corrals are assigned by letter based on runner pace and are located on Well House Drive. The race finishes on Center Drive, leading back to the festival area. Results are posted online and emailed post-race.

Amenities & Rules

Participants receive a tech shirt and a finisher medal. Post-race refreshments include bagels and fresh fruit. Water and electrolyte drinks are available on course and at the finish. Professional race photos are available for free after the event. Strollers and dogs are not allowed. Headphones may lead to disqualification if they hinder awareness.

Getting There & Registration

Mass transit is recommended. The closest subway stops are Prospect Park Station (S, Q trains) and 15th St-Prospect Park Station (F, G trains). Several bus lines also serve the area. Citi Bike stations are nearby, but bikes cannot be parked in the festival area. Parking is limited around the park. Race day bib pick-up begins at 7:00 AM and requires a unique QR code. NYCRUNS members have the option for free bib mailing if registered 20+ days before the event. Pricing increases over time, and members receive a discount.
