NYCRUNS Brooklyn Ice Cream Social Half Marathon
The event is a half marathon (13.1 miles) held in Prospect Park, Brooklyn as the final race of the NYCRUNS Ice Cream Social Race Series. It is presented as a summer goal race or a long training run for fall marathons and includes a finisher medal and a post-race ice cream or ice pop with non-dairy options.
The course consists of just under four full loops of the park, with a final sprint up Center Drive. Runners pass Center Drive three times before a left turn to the finish. The course is USATF certified.
The Festival Area is located in the Nethermead and is accessible via Center Drive or the walking paths off Well House Drive. The finish on Center Drive returns runners directly to the Festival Area. Bike parking in the Festival Area is prohibited.
On-site amenities include bag check (one single clear bag required, 18 x 24 inches), portable bathrooms, water and Gatorade on course and at the finish, and post-race refreshments such as pretzels and an apple. Race swag is a TECH SHIRT available on race day only and a finisher medal. Participants receive one complimentary photo and can purchase additional photos.
Start corrals are pace based and assigned by letter (AA-F) on the bib; corrals are located on Well House Drive. Bibs are available for race day pickup in the Festival Area or may be mailed to members and qualifying registrants under specific conditions. Pricing includes Early Bird rates through January 31 and member discounts thereafter.
Awards recognize the top three male, female, and non-binary finishers overall by gun time, and the top three in age groups by net chip time. Due to the number of turns, handcycle and wheelchair athletes are not advised to register. Standard policies apply including no strollers or dogs, potential disqualification for earbuds that hinder awareness, a no-refunds/no-transfers rule, and time limits that require maintaining pace.
