NYCRUNS Brooklyn Ice Cream Social Half Marathon
The NYCRUNS Brooklyn Ice Cream Social Half Marathon takes place in Prospect Park, Brooklyn on August 22, 2026. It is the final race of the summer NYCRUNS Ice Cream Social Race Series. Runners complete the half marathon distance of 13.1 miles and receive a finisher medal and an ice cream or ice pop treat, with a non dairy option available.
The course is composed of just under four full loops of the park. Runners pass Center Drive three times and then make a final left turn to the finish. The course is USATF certified. The Festival Area is located in the Nethermead and is accessible via Center Drive or the walking paths off Well House Drive. The race finishes on Center Drive, which returns participants to the Festival Area. Bike parking in the Festival Area is prohibited.
Start corrals use a pace based system with letters AA through F. Corral assignments appear on the bib and are based on the pace listed in the runner dashboard. Bag check requires a single clear bag (18 x 24 inches) with no additional full bag inside; organizers reserve the right to search bag contents. Portable bathrooms are available. Water and Gatorade are provided on course and at the finish. Postrace refreshments include a Brooklyn bagel and an apple in addition to the ice cream treat. Participant shirts are available for pick up on race day only and sizes are not guaranteed. Race photos are shared by email a few days after the event with one free download available.
Bibs can be picked up in the Festival Area on race day with a unique QR code. NYCRUNS members may receive mailed bibs at no cost; non members can add bib mailing for $25 when eligible. Mailing is available only if registration occurs 20 days or more before the event and only to U.S. addresses. Parking near the park is limited; mass transit is recommended. The closest subway stations are the B Q at Prospect Park and the F G at 15th St Prospect Park. Nearby bus stops include the B68 and B16, and Citi Bike stations are near Prospect Park Southwest/16th Street and Lincoln Road/Ocean Avenue.
Handcycle and wheelchair athletes are not advised to register for this event due to the high number of turns. NYCRUNS members receive a 10 percent race discount and additional membership benefits. Registration closes the day before the race or earlier if capacity is reached. Pricing varies by date with early rates starting at $60 for members and non members and later rates up to $112.50 for members and $125 for non members.
Results are emailed and posted online after the race. Awards are given to the top three male, female, and non binary finishers overall by gun time. Age group awards are available by net chip time for standard brackets from 19 and under through 80 and over. Standard event policies apply including no refunds and no transfers; members may withdraw for race credit. Strollers and dogs are not permitted. Earbuds that hinder awareness may lead to disqualification. Confetti cannons are forbidden. All NYCRUNS races have time limits and participants must remain on pace to retain course support and an official finish time. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
