Woolly Mammoth 5K & 10K
The Woolly Mammoth is a winter running event held at Veterans Pier in Brooklyn on January 2, 2027. It is listed as the first stop of the NYC Parks Winter Series and offers both in-person and virtual participation options. Participants receive a race tee and a finisher medal.
Distances:
- 5K One loop out and back along the shore.
- 10K Two loops out and back along the shore, cutoff 1 hour & 40 minutes.
The course follows the shore at Veterans Pier. Wheelchair participants are welcome; however, several tight 180-degree turns may make this course less suitable for wheelchair racers. Public street and metered parking are limited near Bay Ridge Ave and Shore Road, and public transportation is encouraged. Bathrooms are located within a few minutes walk from the start and finish.
On-site amenities include an informal bag check area, hydration at the finish, and refreshments provided by All Round Foods and Waterloo Sparkling Water. There is a free Kiddie Dash about 30 minutes before the main event. Top finishers receive online age-group recognition, with overall and age-category awards through 90 plus in male, female, and nonbinary divisions.
For virtual participants, the event allows a one-week window to log a time and upload up to five photos. Bibs can be mailed for a fee if registration occurs at least ten days before the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
