NYC Ugly Sweater 5K & HM - Prospect Park
This event on December 19, 2026 takes place at Prospect Park - The Peristyle in Brooklyn, New York. Participants are encouraged to wear festive ugly sweaters while running on the park's pedestrian paths. The event offers both in-person and virtual participation options and supports the Never Stop Running Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
Distances
- 5K Run/Walk on a USATF certified loop.
- Half marathon 13.1 miles on the same course with four loops.
Race amenities include an ugly sweater medal and a long sleeve tee, hydration at the finish, refreshments provided by All Round Foods and Waterloo Sparkling Water, and informal bag check in the staging area. Bathrooms are located within a few minutes' walk from start and finish; porto‑johns will be near the finish line.
Course details: both routes use a USATF certified circuit in Prospect Park. The start is south of Duck Island adjacent to St. Paul's Place and the finish is at the Grecian Shelter, the Peristyle. Half marathon runners must pass through the finish line at the end of each loop for accurate split times; the half marathon has a 2 hour 45 minute course support cutoff.
Logistics for virtual entrants include a multi‑day window to record times and upload photos. Bib mailing is available for an additional fee if arranged at least 10 days before the event.
