Hip Hop Half Marathon & 5K NSRF
A hip hop themed running event held at the American Veterans Memorial Pier in Brooklyn. The event offers two race options along the shore with boardwalk views and access to nearby parking.
- Half Marathon: four-loop course along the pier and shore.
- 5K: out and back route along the shore.
The Half Marathon is run as four laps with a U-turn at marked signs; the 5K uses a single out and back with a U-turn at its sign. Runners must pass through the finish line on each loop for accurate split timing and photos. Course support is provided for 3 hours 15 minutes. Wheelchair participants are welcome, but the course contains several tight 180-degree turns that may not suit all wheelchair racers.
Amenities include a boombox finisher medal and event tee, hydration at the turnaround and finish, and electrolytes available for Half Marathon participants. High quality refreshments are provided by All Round Foods and Waterloo Sparkling Water. An informal bag check area will be available; bathrooms include nearby park building restrooms and porto-johns.
A virtual participation option allows entrants a full week from the event start to log times and upload up to five photos; mailed items begin shipping on the event start day. Bib mailing is available for a fee with advance registration; in-person bib pickup is at the Grecian Center (Peristyle/Finish Line) starting one hour before the event.
Top overall finishers and age-group winners are recognized across standard age brackets. A portion of event proceeds benefits the Never Stop Running Foundation, a 501(c)(3). Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
