Day of the Dead 5K and Half Marathon
The Day of the Dead 5K and Half Marathon takes place at Flushing Meadows Corona Park in Queens, New York on October 25, 2026. The event offers in-person and virtual participation and includes a separate free kiddie dash held near the common finish area.
Distances
- 5K USATF certified single loop course.
- Half Marathon Four loops of the 5K course; cutoff 3:15 hours.
The certified 5K route runs near the Queens Theater and passes the Unisphere twice and the Fountain of the Planets. Half marathon runners must cross the finish line each loop so splits and finish times are recorded correctly. Hydration on the course is provided for half marathon runners; additional water and refreshments are available at the finish area.
Amenities include a Day of the Dead tee and a finisher medal for participants, informal bag check in the staging area, portable restrooms near the finish, and nearby park bathrooms within a short walk. Runners can vote for best costume. Public parking is available at the Queens Theater or Queens Museum.
Virtual participants may log times and upload up to five photos during the event window of October 25 to November 1. Bib mailing is available for an additional fee if requested at least ten days before the event. Donations benefit the Never Stop Running Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
